The Product Designer will be responsible for preparing electronic working plans and technical drawings for various products inclusive of lighting from concepts, sketches, calculations, specification sheets and other data. The Product Designer will review plans and confer with internal stakeholder to meet project specifications, complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets. Designers are encouraged to work as a team on new product designs from concept to final product, including rendering mock ups and final architectural renderings.
Job Responsibility:
Design and prepare detailed electronic working plans, and scale drawings for commercial products for lighting, walls, and acoustic products
Review plans and confer with internal stakeholder to meet project specifications, complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets
Work as a team on new product designs from concept to final product, including rendering mock ups and final architectural renderings
Requirements:
Product Design: 5 years (required)
Must be legal to work in Canada
Able to travel for short periods to the US to troubleshoot
Able to perform set up, operate and adjust a variety of conventional and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools
Verify dimensions of parts machined accuracy using micrometers, calipers, gauge, CMM and other precision measuring instruments
Complete BOM for accuracy and enter jobs into M1 (ERP System)
Produce detailed, final hard drawings and specifications using dedicated computer software (SolidEdge)
Work closely with production team to select cost effective materials and construction techniques
Make basic computations to determine layout of charts, strength of materials and requirements for structural design
Knowledge or use of KeyShot to produce 3D renderings
Provide technical guidance and direction to the production staff
Prepare electronic layouts, detailed scale drawings, and material and equipment requirements from sketches, specifications and standard layouts
Revise computer-aided designs and plans to comply with modified specifications
Successfully carry out assignments and update task status on team projects
Communicate to management on issues that could potentially jeopardize delivery dates
Develop mounting instructions per the requirements of the client and fixture types
Verify required components are available to release the jobs
