Job Description

A contract role focused on improving and restructuring an existing design system and Figma component libraries. The role is centred around system architecture, component structure, library organisation and improving how the design system supports both designers and engineers. You’ll work closely with design and engineering teams to implement improvements, clean up and reorganise Figma files, and help make the design system more scalable, maintainable and easier for teams to use.

Job Responsibility

  • Improve and restructure an existing design system and Figma component libraries
  • Work closely with design and engineering teams
  • Focus on system structure, component libraries and how the design system supports both designers and engineers
  • Reorganise and restructure Figma libraries and files
  • Improve component structure, variants and naming conventions
  • Ensure components are scalable, reusable and aligned with engineering implementation
  • Clean up and simplify the component library so it is easier for teams to use
  • Implement improvements and changes that have already been identified
  • Work directly in Figma on the design system and component libraries
  • Restructure Figma libraries and file architecture
  • Review and improve component and variant structure
  • Improve naming conventions and component organisation
  • Ensure libraries are structured in a logical and scalable way
  • Support documentation and usage guidance where needed
  • Align Figma components with coded components
  • Ensure component structure maps well to engineering implementation
  • Support discussions around component behaviour and patterns
  • Improve collaboration between design and engineering around the system

Requirements

  • Strong experience working on design systems and component libraries
  • Very strong in Figma libraries, components and system structure
  • Experience restructuring or improving existing design systems
  • Has worked closely with engineers on component implementation
  • Understands design system governance and contribution models
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of system improvements
