Job Description:

We’re looking for a product designer who thinks beyond aesthetics. Someone who is as passionate about crafting seamless user experiences as they are about beautiful interfaces. You care deeply about building, shipping, and iterating on real products, not just making polished mockups that never see the light of day. As a Product Designer on our mobile team, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the Eight Sleep app, driving the design of engaging, intuitive, and seamless experiences that help users optimize their sleep and health. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Brand, and Research & Development teams to craft high-quality, data-driven designs that balance aesthetics with usability.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design: You’ll sit at the intersection of Design and Product, playing a key role in the end-to-end design and evolution of the Eight Sleep app. Your responsibilities will encompass the full spectrum of product design, from information architecture and low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity mockups, and everything in-between
  • Validate: You’ll conduct usability studies and user interviews to inform design work, and work closely with our in-house customer discovery squad. You’ll use data to inform the success or failure of the design
  • Iterate: You’ll combine qualitative and quantitative customer insights to make design decisions that improve our app experience, reduce churn, and increase engagement
  • You’ll work as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver captivating user experiences that increase membership value and support hardware innovations
  • You’ll build, document, and organize the UI components of our design library and system to drive consistency across our app and the rest of the brand
  • You’ll align with Product and Brand stakeholders and clearly present design updates to C-suite leadership for feedback and approval
  • You’ll serve as the subject matter expert responsible for app design patterns and interactions - including researching and staying up-to-date on emerging mobile design trends and best practices
  • You’ll collaborate closely with the Engineering, Product, and Marketing teams to ship world class products and features

Requirements:

  • 4+ years experience in UX and UI, with a strong portfolio including live mobile examples
  • You’ve shipped your designs to public users and have data that proves either success or failure
  • You are able to consider the technical implications of design decisions and have the ability to find the right balance between new user value and technical effort
  • You have experience coaching junior designers and collaborating closely with Product Managers and Engineers
  • You are obsessed with simplicity, have a high-quality bar for the aesthetics in your design
  • You thrive as an independent thinker and can manage the design process from end to end even in open-ended ambiguous environments
  • Able and flexible to iterate fast and often
  • You are confident in writing clear agendas and decks, and presenting design evolutions to C-Suite leadership
  • Your are open to occasional travel to other office locations (San Francisco, New York) to work with other teams in-person
  • You are excited about the opportunity to build a fast-growing brand into an iconic company
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in a related design field or equivalent experience

Nice to have:

  • Having built iconic, consumer-facing mobile apps at small and mid-size tech startups (with the data & reviews to prove it)
  • Experience designing mobile apps for Android
What we offer:
  • Equitable compensation and continuous equity investment
  • Every Eight Sleep employee receives the very product that defines our mission: a Pod of their own
