Meta is seeking an experienced Hardware leader with a background in mechanical engineering/product design and complex system design. As the head of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, you will define and implement workflows for developing the next-generation of custom wearable systems. As an expert in your engineering field, you will supervise the ME design and architecture of our custom systems.
Job Responsibility:
Intake requirements from researchers, engineers, and product managers
Liaise between researchers, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers
Inspire and lead mechanical engineering projects, providing technical guidance and oversight
Mentor and manage a team of mechanical engineers and other engineering managers to achieve project goals
Collaborate with key partners (Research, Engineering, Leadership, Operations, Legal, Facilities, etc.) to support new and ongoing projects
Determine project priorities and feasibility
Manage project meetings, schedules, milestones, identify risks, and develop mitigation plans, and delivery to ensure timely completion
Design, simulate, prototype, and test complex systems combining electronics, mechanical parts, optics, and software. Provide individual technical contributions in your area of expertise as needed
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
12+ years of hardware experience in mechanical, electrical systems, and/or software
7+ years of managing technical teams or leading technical projects
Experience with: Cameras, displays, batteries, and other sensors, Compute & systems development (demonstrated domain knowledge), and 3D design modeling and physical prototyping
Proven track record in technology & product development
Experience leading mechanical design from concept to manufacture, assembly, and test
