Job Description

Meta is seeking an experienced Hardware leader with a background in mechanical engineering/product design and complex system design. As the head of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, you will define and implement workflows for developing the next-generation of custom wearable systems. As an expert in your engineering field, you will supervise the ME design and architecture of our custom systems.

Job Responsibility

  • Intake requirements from researchers, engineers, and product managers
  • Liaise between researchers, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers
  • Inspire and lead mechanical engineering projects, providing technical guidance and oversight
  • Mentor and manage a team of mechanical engineers and other engineering managers to achieve project goals
  • Collaborate with key partners (Research, Engineering, Leadership, Operations, Legal, Facilities, etc.) to support new and ongoing projects
  • Determine project priorities and feasibility
  • Manage project meetings, schedules, milestones, identify risks, and develop mitigation plans, and delivery to ensure timely completion
  • Design, simulate, prototype, and test complex systems combining electronics, mechanical parts, optics, and software. Provide individual technical contributions in your area of expertise as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years of hardware experience in mechanical, electrical systems, and/or software
  • 7+ years of managing technical teams or leading technical projects
  • Experience with: Cameras, displays, batteries, and other sensors, Compute & systems development (demonstrated domain knowledge), and 3D design modeling and physical prototyping
  • Proven track record in technology & product development
  • Experience leading mechanical design from concept to manufacture, assembly, and test
