As a Product Design Engineer, you will take a critical role in developing hardware systems for MR, AR, or New Technology Initiatives. You will become part of a team exploring developing concepts through prototyping and into mass-production consumer electronics. You will work as part of a cross functional team requiring collaboration and curiosity in domains other than mechanical engineering. Our team supports mechanical engineering fundamentals, prototyping skills, CAD fluency, manufacturing process knowledge, and experience designing consumer electronics.

Job Responsibility

Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems
Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product
Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems while working with cross functional technical teams
Design for Manufacturability - Ensure the design is robust and the equipment, process and materials are scalable to ramp
Collaborate with internal cross functional teams and external industry partners

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, and consumer electronics industry experience of at least 3 years
3+ years of hands-on product design and development experience in high volume consumer electronics, including complex subsystems and/or full systems ownership
Demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering fundamentals, prototyping skills, 2d/3d skill
Experience working with contract manufacturers on process and equipment development for optical assembly
Experience performing and designing DOEs, tolerance analysis, GD&T,data analysis, SPC control, Gauge R&R, root cause investigation, failure analysis, implement corrective action
Working knowledge in material properties, such as plastics, metal, adhesive, and glass
Experience leading communications with cross-functional partners, fluent English
Testing and analysis experience (Structural & thermal FEA, Design of Experiments, etc.)
Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques (stamping, machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc)

Nice to have

Experience with NX CAD Experience designing and shipping products with Asia-based supply chain
Experience on cell phone, tablet, Laptop design, or other complex consumer electronics products design
Familiar with structural & thermal FEA
Experience on build support in CM factory
