Job Description:

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Product Counsel to join our Legal team and support Playlist and its group companies - including Mindbody, + ClassPass - around the world. You will play a critical role in embedding legal compliance into Playlist’s product lifecycle while ensuring the business retains its bias towards action and continues to move quickly while innovating responsibly. You will advise on Playlist’s suite of B2B and B2C products. Your primary focus will be consumer protection laws and regulations but you’ll also advise on AI regulation, privacy and data protection, marketing laws and requirements and other regulatory matters related to our products and services where necessary.

Job Responsibility:

  • Be embedded with Playlist’s Product, Design and Engineering (PDE) teams, acting as a proactive partner throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Participate in product roadmap planning, collaborating closely with PDE stakeholders
  • Be the lead Legal contact for Playlist’s Product, Design and Engineering, Security and Marketing teams
  • Monitor, research and analyze regulatory developments worldwide which affect Playlist and its customers, end users and employees
  • Assist with Playlist’s privacy program
  • Partner with Playlist’s Security team to continue to improve Playlist’s privacy, safety and security-by-design requirements
  • Draft, maintain and update internal policies and contractual documentation with customers, consumers and suppliers
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing and operations teams to support commercial negotiations and escalations
  • Partner with all other practice areas within the Legal team as the subject matter expert in your area
  • Prepare and deliver privacy and product compliance training when needed
  • Be prepared to work within US time zones

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) and qualified to practice law
  • 10+ years’ relevant legal experience
  • In-house experience a plus, ideally in the technology industry
  • Strong experience working directly with PDE teams advising on consumer protection in the US, UK and Europe essential
  • Self-Motivated
