Job Description

At Mews, we’re redefining how hospitality works, and that includes rethinking how software gets built. That’s why we’re introducing a new kind of role: the Product Builder. Product Builders are high-agency engineers who don’t just focus on how things get built, they shape what gets built in the first place, taking ownership from idea through to impact and playing a direct role in defining the products our customers experience. As a Product Builder, you will operate at the forefront of this transformation. This is a role for people who transcend conventional engineering tracks – those who blend technical depth, product intuition and organisational leadership to create enduring impact. A Product Builder is someone who thinks in systems, takes initiative, moves fast and creates long-term value by building great products that truly help our customers. You’ll be responsible for identifying, driving and delivering high-leverage product opportunities that span teams and domains. You’ll lead by example in how AI-native products are built, guide strategic direction and act as a multiplier for others in the organization

Job Responsibility

  • Take end-to-end ownership of product initiatives - from problem definition to prototype to production
  • Build rapidly, ship often and iterate based on real feedback
  • Lead the design and implementation of systems that power: Product-led growth mechanics, Intelligent onboarding and automation workflows, Multi-property operational tooling and business intelligence, AI-powered Smart Tips and co-pilot product features
  • Work closely with Product Managers and Designers to stay aligned on direction without being dependent on them for day-to-day execution
  • Operate as a self-contained unit: making decisions, running experiments and owning delivery
  • Set a high bar for technical and product quality. You won’t just ship features - you’ll build systems that last and evolve
  • Mentor Engineers who wish to become Product Builders and other Product Builders to drive adoption of modern development practices
  • Champion AI-native development across the team - working faster, smarter and with less waste
  • Make pragmatic use of cloud-native platforms, integrations and managed services to solve problems without reinventing the wheel
  • Lead the discovery and delivery of complex, cross-cutting initiatives with broad business and customer impact
  • Shape product direction in ambiguous areas, working closely with leadership to influence strategic bets and longer-term product vision
  • Mentor and enable other Product Builders and Engineers across the company – through pairing, reviews, coaching and hands-on leadership
  • Drive best-in-class use of AI tools, rapidly prototyping solutions and scaling promising ideas into robust product experiences
  • Establish reusable patterns, frameworks, or services that accelerate the work of other builders and improve overall velocity
  • Define and share patterns for effective AI-native development, enabling others, even for non-product builders, to build faster and more effectively
  • Represent builder thinking across orgs – evangelizing a culture of experimentation, autonomy and pragmatic problem-solving

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience delivering customer-facing software with measurable business outcomes
  • Experience as a senior engineer in a product-driven company (startup, founder, or scale-up experience preferred)
  • Track record of leading large-scale initiatives across functions, systems, or product areas
  • Strong product instincts - you care about the problem as much as the implementation
  • Comfortable defining scope, navigating ambiguity and making trade-offs in real time
  • Take ownership well beyond your code - into customer outcomes, product success and system sustainability
  • Experience operating without dedicated Product Managers or Product Designers, or a strong proven ability to do so
  • Demonstrated ability to define and deliver product strategy without top-down direction
  • Consistently lead by example: whether by coaching, elevating team standards, or proactively unblocking others
  • Recognized as a leader in AI-native development, with a proven ability to evaluate, adopt and scale emerging tools (e.g., agents, orchestration, autonomous testing) across teams
  • Expert in and actively working with modern AI development tools, such as: Claude for rapid code generation and refactoring, Cursor or other AI-native IDEs to boost development speed and insight, Lovable, or similar tools, to prototype flows and gather user feedback fast, Emerging AI agents and workflow automation tools that help reduce friction, test faster and unlock scale
  • Strong communicator with a history of influencing decision-making at a strategic level
  • Recognized internally as a go-to problem solver and mentor, trusted by peers across disciplines

What we offer

  • Participation in our company share program
  • Best-in-class parental leave (6 months fully paid for primary caregivers, 2 months for secondary, available within your first year)
  • Unlimited paid holiday (yes, really)
  • Work from anywhere - enjoy the flexibility to work from other countries for a few weeks each year through our compliant and flexible Workation policy
  • Relocation options available after 1 year
  • Monthly 'EDGE' time - dedicated to Explore, Develop, Grow, and Elevate yourself
  • Flexible, hybrid working options
  • One-off home office setup budget to make your workspace your own
  • Monthly working-from-home and healthcare allowances (where local healthcare benefits are not in available)
