Job Description:

As Product Counsel for Cash App, handling credit, lending and credit reporting issues, you'll have a broad range of responsibilities providing legal guidance on lending and credit issues, including credit reporting agency issues. Our Primary Product offerings that you would be involved with include: Lending products (such as our buy now pay letter products), Afterpay and credit risk rating/credit rating agency work. As we expand, your ideas and contributions will make an immediate and meaningful impact.

Job Responsibility:

Provide guidance to product, risk, design, eng, customer support and other teams on lending, credit and credit reporting agency issues and help build new lending and credit related products
Provide actionable legal advice concerning consumer lending laws and consumer lending products, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), Dodd Frank, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and Equal Credit Opportunity Act
Develop trusted relationships with partners and stay informed on key product developments
Draft and negotiate commercial agreements affecting your products and services
Draft terms of use, product policies, and product disclosures
Work closely with cross-functional partners (tax, compliance, accounting, and outside counsel) to provide seamless support
Cultivate creative ideas and insights into how legal frameworks can support new product developments and customer experiences

Requirements:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in at least one state bar
6+ years of combined, relevant experience in law firms, governmental agencies, or in-house legal departments
Significant expertise in consumer lending laws and consumer lending products, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), Dodd Frank, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and Equal Credit Opportunity Act
Fluency translating legal advice into actionable guidance
Ability to quickly adapt and reorient in an evolving regulatory and business environment
Familiarity with launching and marketing products and advising on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development in the technology space
Sound, practical business judgment, and creativity solving problems
Excellent drafting skills
