Our client, a prominent leader in the manufacturing and automotive sector in Markham, is seeking a dedicated Purchasing Specialist to anchor their supply chain operations. In this role, you will take full ownership of the end-to-end procurement cycle, acting as a strategic link between Sales and Operations to support demand forecasting and supply planning. From navigating complex customs regulations and HS codes to driving cost savings through expert negotiation, you will be the key driver in ensuring production timelines are met and budgets are respected. Job Responsibility:
Cycle Management: Execute the full procurement process, including demand analysis, purchase order issuance, production follow-up, and shipment coordination
Strategic Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales and Operations departments to support accurate supply planning and demand forecasting
Vendor Oversight: Evaluate and monitor individual supplier performance based on pricing consistency, service reliability, and lead time adherence
Financial Tracking: Support the reporting of purchasing KPIs such as cost savings, inventory turnover, and volume consumption against the budget
Compliance & Optimization: Stay informed on changes in trade regulations, HS codes, and tariff policies while maintaining procurement SOPs and internal workflows
Requirements:
Proven Experience: 2–5 years of dedicated procurement or purchasing experience
Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills with a proven ability to analyze demand, pricing, and inventory data
Global Trade Knowledge: Solid understanding of import/export procedures, customs documentation, and logistics management
Core Competencies: Strong negotiation skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under strict production timelines
