The Procurement Specialist is responsible for negotiating and executing the purchase of all necessary parts, materials, equipment, tools, services, and supplies for contract performance.
Job Responsibility:
Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers
Manage and develop cost reduction strategies and savings plans
Familiar with the concepts, practices, and procedures of Government procurement
Implement procurement strategies, negotiate with suppliers, and manage vendor relationships
Identify and establish new sources of supply for materials, equipment, or supplies and work with corporate supplier quality to have them added to the company Approved Vendor List (AVL)
Interview vendors to determine best product availability and terms of sales
Review, approve, prepare, and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment
Assist contract and program management to process, understand and engage effectively with the procurement process
Coordinate deliveries between vendors and receiving departments to complete purchase
Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
Participate in / lead continuous improvement activities
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s degree preferred (in business, supply chain management, procurement or equivalent)
4+ years of proven experience in purchasing/procurement
DoD experience, knowledge of regulations and FAR rules preferred
Ability to maintain government security clearance
Ability to pass background and drug screening
Comprehensive knowledge of word processing software applications
Proficient in computer data entry and Microsoft Outlook
Advanced computer skills specifically using data products and location specific programs
Ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs
Computer literacy and attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and manage time efficiently
Comfort in gathering and disseminating information
Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, etc.
Ability to follow a process
Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up
Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures
Ability to multi-task efficiently
Ability to work independently to complete assignments and solve problems

Previous military / government Logistics experience
