As a Procurement Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the materials, components, and products produced from suppliers meet the required quality standards, specifications, and compliance requirements and ensure that purchased goods align with organizational and customer expectations. This position requires an independent, self-motivated, highly skilled Engineer with experience and extensive knowledge of Quality in a manufacturing facility to manage and oversee purchased product with minimal oversight and guidance on timelines shorter than usual in the industry. This position is an on-site position at X-Bow's facility in Luling, TX with some remote work and travel (25%). Procurement Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that the supply chain delivers high-quality materials and components. This position will assist in developing, defining, and implementing quality clauses (Q-Notes) for supplier products, supporting several programs and ensuring Government contract compliance, as applicable. Position is integral with the on-site Operations Team and the remote supporting organizations.
Job Responsibility:
Define and communicate quality requirements, specifications, and standards to suppliers
Ensure suppliers understand and comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer-specific quality notes (e.g., Q-Notes)
Oversee incoming material inspections and testing to verify conformance to specifications
Collaborate with quality control teams to establish inspection criteria and acceptance standards
Investigate and resolve supplier-related nonconformances, including defective materials or components
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and work with suppliers to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Collaborate with suppliers to improve their processes, quality systems, and overall performance
Provide technical guidance and training to suppliers to ensure continuous improvement
Work closely with procurement teams to ensure quality considerations are integrated into supplier requirements and contract negotiations
Review and approve supplier documentation, such as Certificates of Conformance (CoC), First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), and test report
Requirements:
B.S. in Engineering or Sciences with minimum 5 years of experience
MRP systems experience (Deltek Costpoint system)
Strong understanding of engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing)
Ability to effectively communicate quality requirements and collaborate with suppliers, procurement teams, and internal stakeholders
Proficiency in data analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and quality metric
Experience conducting supplier audits and assessments
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
