Gloucestershire County Council is transforming its approach to Procurement to meet new challenges, embed best commercial practice in an equitable, sustainable and accountable way for clients and suppliers, and secure best value for the public purse. The role involves working with all areas of the council, supporting them through best practice.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide guidance and support on a wide range of procurement and contract issues
  • Run tenders for goods and services ensuring compliance with council and legislative requirements
  • Support the purchase of the best services and goods with value for money and consideration of social value and climate change

Requirements:

  • Procurement or commissioning skills and experience
  • Contract management or legal background within local government or public sector
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement policies, procedures and systems
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
  • Highly organised and analytical
  • Good IT skills
  • Good communication and negotiating skills
  • Ability to meet demanding targets, timescales and budgets
  • Right to work that enables commitment to at least 6 months' employment
  • Ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in fluent English (for customer facing roles)
