We are looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to lead strategic sourcing and vendor management initiatives for a growing banking organization in San Diego, California. This role partners closely with business leaders to shape category plans, strengthen supplier relationships, and improve value across third-party spend. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial judgment, contract negotiation expertise, and the ability to turn spend data into practical procurement decisions.
Job Responsibility
Create sourcing plans with cross-functional partners to align purchasing activity with operational goals, risk considerations, and service expectations
Build and maintain category strategies across areas such as outsourced services and technology, using market intelligence and cost analysis to guide decisions
Meet with internal stakeholders to define business needs, refine specifications, and ensure requested products and services are sourced effectively
Identify savings opportunities and present recommendations that improve total cost of ownership while supporting long-term business needs
Evaluate, select, and develop relationships with dependable suppliers and service providers to support quality, continuity, and performance
Review existing commercial agreements, lead renegotiation efforts when needed, and drive contract discussions through to completion with internal partners
Advise stakeholders on commercial and contractual terms, balancing business priorities with legal, compliance, and risk requirements
Maintain accurate vendor spend tracking and produce reporting on purchasing activity, supplier changes, open purchase orders, compliance, and performance metrics
Support an efficient source-to-pay workflow by coordinating contract reviews, stakeholder approvals, and purchase order readiness
Ensure third-party agreements and due diligence activities satisfy applicable regulatory expectations and internal governance standards
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business administration, or a related field
At least 7 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or a closely related function
Strong background working with complex spend categories in consulting, shared services, outsourcing, or similarly structured environments
Knowledge of procurement controls and governance practices, including experience operating within regulated or Sarbanes-Oxley-controlled settings
Demonstrated success leading contract negotiations, supplier discussions, and enterprise purchasing initiatives
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable recommendations
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with procurement or e-sourcing tools
