Help us deliver like never before. Australia Post is delivering like never before. From the vehicles that we drive to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers, and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride. About the opportunity. Australia Post is undergoing significant transformation, and to support the organisation in achieving its strategic priorities, our Group Procurement team is expanding. Our focus is on strengthening our position in e‑commerce and enhancing digital experiences across the business, while reimagining the post office network and simplifying our products and services. The Group Procurement team plays a central role in many of these important and evolving initiatives. Reporting to the Strategic Procurement Manager, you will support the development and delivery of end‑to‑end procurement strategies that directly enable Australia Post’s Fleet and Logistics (Linehaul) functions. You will also have opportunities to work cross‑functionally across the broader Australia Post Group. In this role, you will provide commercial leadership across multi‑modal freight categories that keep our national network moving — from interstate road linehaul to air freight supporting premium and express services.
Job Responsibility:
Lead sourcing strategies across road linehaul, rail, sea and air freight to support the growth and performance of the national network
Partner with internal stakeholders across Fleet, Network Operations, Engineering and Group Procurement to drive commercial value and risk‑managed decision‑making
Execute end‑to‑end procurement activities — including category planning, market engagement, tendering, evaluation, negotiation and contract award
Support transformation initiatives aligned to Australia Post’s strategic priorities, including cost optimisation, sustainability, and service performance improvements
Work collaboratively across multi‑disciplinary teams, leveraging insights and governance frameworks used in major logistics sourcing programs
Manage supplier relationships, performance frameworks, compliance and contract‑related governance
Contribute to cross‑organisational initiatives that strengthen procurement capability and improve internal processes
Partner with the function or Business Unit of Australia Post, where key stakeholder management will be required but will also identify opportunities to work cross-functionally across all areas of the enterprise
Work independently to undertake end-to-end procurement engagement, from undertaking greenfield strategic sourcing projects, stakeholder engagement and management, category planning and development, portfolio management and transaction negotiation to contract finalisation
Possess a high level of organisation and planning capability and work closely with stakeholders and other support functions (such as Legal and Finance) to deliver strong value
Drive the procurement process to maximise value across brand and reputation, customer service, service delivery and quality, innovation, environmental and sustainable outcomes whilst generating commercial value, managing potential risk, and maintaining the highest standards of corporate responsibility
Support the Senior Sourcing Manager/Category Lead in establishing procurement standards that ensure efficient, effective, economical, and ethical supplier management in partnership with the relevant business areas
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in leadership roles within logistics, transport, supply chain or multimodal freight
Demonstrated ability to analyse, review and synthesise large, complex datasets, drawing out insights that inform sourcing strategy, negotiation positions and executive decision‑making
Strong commercial acumen with strategic mindset, and with the ability to interpret commercial models, evaluate cost drivers, and build compelling business cases
Deep understanding of national freight markets — including road linehaul, rail networks, domestic air freight, and global sea freight
Proven capability in complex sourcing, negotiation, contract management and supplier governance
Ability to build strong relationships with operational, technical and executive stakeholders, as well as the ability to engage, influence and present complex information to senior stakeholders, clearly and confidently
Comfortable working in a large, fast‑moving operational environment undergoing transformation
Excellent communication, influencing, and problem‑solving skills
