Job Description:

About the Role: We are seeking a Procurement & Inventory Manager to lead the day-to-day procurement and operational inventory management across a national network. This is a hands-on, operational role with scope to grow into a broader leadership position over time. You will play a crucial part in ensuring reliable supply, optimising inventory, and embedding commercial discipline, while working closely with operational teams to improve processes and purchasing practices.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead end-to-end procurement of parts, consumables, services, and fleet-related spend
  • Source, contract, and manage suppliers to ensure cost-effective and reliable supply
  • Run RFQs, pricing reviews, and tender processes as required
  • Maintain supply agreements and ensure compliance with approved contracts
  • Implement consistent inventory processes, stock guidelines, and reorder practices across all depots
  • Optimise inventory levels to support operational reliability while minimising excess stock
  • Track and report cost savings, cost avoidance, and procurement performance metrics
  • Coordinate and support depot-based buyers, providing guidance, tools, and training
  • Build strong relationships with operational stakeholders and suppliers to influence behaviours and embed best practice
  • Maintain accurate data within purchasing and vehicle management systems (VMS)
  • Identify and implement practical process improvements to enhance efficiency and control

Requirements:

  • 5–10+ years’ experience in procurement, purchasing, or inventory management, ideally in FMCG, healthcare, fleet, or other operationally intensive industries
  • Strong inventory management capability combined with buying experience
  • Experience across multi-site operations and end-to-end procure-to-pay linkages
  • Commercially minded, pragmatic, resilient, and solutions-focused
  • Confident in hands-on operational delivery while influencing teams and stakeholders without relying on hierarchy
  • Strong negotiation, supplier relationship, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience using ERP or procurement systems is desirable
