Job Description:

The Procurement Director, APAC plays a pivotal leadership role within Valvoline Global Operations, responsible for delivering strategic value through the sourcing and optimization of procuring goods and services. Reporting to the VP of Procurement and based in Singapore, this role leads a team of four to six direct reports (total team of 12-15), overseeing a diverse and complex portfolio of spend categories—including raw materials, packaging components, third party suppliers, professional services, MRO and more. This role will be responsible for leading Procurement for the Valvoline Global Asia Pacific region, which includes operations in China, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, India and other countries required to support our rapid growth.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies across multiple complex, high-spend categories (e.g., raw materials, packaging components, 3rd party partners, corporate services, MRO and others)
  • Continuously monitor internal demand and external market trends to adjust sourcing strategies proactively and ensure alignment with evolving business needs
  • Champion a category management approach—defining supplier segmentation, competitive landscapes, risk assessments, and negotiation levers to drive results
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with stakeholders across all departments to ensure sourcing strategies support operational and strategic priorities
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment on sourcing decisions, providing transparent rationale, decision support, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Translate business challenges into actionable sourcing objectives and collaborate across functions to deliver measurable results
  • Lead and manage the full lifecycle of sourcing initiatives, which may include: opportunity assessments, supplier identification, bid process (RFI/RFP), contract negotiation, and implementation
  • Drive measurable cost savings, working capital improvements, and value enhancements while maintaining compliance, quality, and service standards
  • Identify and remove inefficiencies in the sourcing process to reduce cycle time, increase stakeholder satisfaction, and standardize sourcing practices
  • Oversee the ongoing performance of key suppliers, ensuring that value creation extends beyond contracting through execution and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with Vendor Management and business owners to develop and manage supplier scorecards, business reviews, and corrective action plans
  • Proactively identify and address supplier risks (performance, financial, operational) to maintain continuity and resilience
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement professionals, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities that expand team capability in negotiation, analytics, stakeholder engagement, and strategic thinking
  • Serve as a thought leader in strategic sourcing—supporting enterprise-wide initiatives to modernize tools, elevate procurement maturity, and increase visibility of spend performance
  • Use spend analytics and market intelligence tools to uncover insights, identify cost reduction opportunities, and guide prioritization
  • Partner internally and externally to improve procurement systems and reporting tools, automate tactical activities, and enhance data-driven decision-making
  • Establish and track KPIs and sourcing metrics aligned to cost, compliance, diversity, sustainability, and supplier performance
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Finance, Operations, or related field
  • 6+ years of progressively responsible experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or vendor management, including leadership of sourcing teams
  • Demonstrated excellence in RFP/RFI execution, supplier negotiations, contract management, and stakeholder alignment
  • Advanced analytical aptitude: comfortable with spend analytics, financial modeling, business case development, and sourcing decision support
  • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills—direct, assertive, diplomatic, and effective across levels
  • Self‑motivated problem solver: excels in ambiguity, prioritizes effectively, champions change management, and constantly seeks performance improvement

Nice to have:

  • Strategic Thinking & Market Insight: Anticipates emerging trends, shapes category strategies proactively, and drives long‑term sourcing advantage
  • Influence & Stakeholder Management: Builds trust quickly, persuades across diverse internal audiences, and garners alignment in complex organizational environments
  • Analytical Rigor & Decision Quality: Mines insights from data, synthesizes scenarios, and delivers clear, evidence-based recommendations that drive impact
  • Leadership & Team Development: Coaches and inspires a high-performing team, modeling accountability, growth, and excellence in delivery
  • Execution & Operational Excellence: Translates strategy into action—ensuring rigor, consistency, and discipline throughout sourcing cycles and supplier engagements
