The Americas Media Category Director leads the strategy, governance, and commercial performance of all media procurement activities across the entire Americas region — including the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America. As the region’s two largest and most complex media markets, the U.S. and Mexico represent a disproportionate share of responsibility and strategic focus for this role. This leader is accountable for developing enterprise-aligned media sourcing strategies, elevating agency performance, optimizing investment transparency, driving innovation, and navigating the varied regulatory, cultural, and media-ecosystem realities across these markets. This role is based in Mexico City and requires extensive cross-regional leadership and partnership with Marketing, Global Media, Insights, Finance, Legal, and local business units.
Job Responsibility:
Build and execute a unified media procurement strategy across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America
Integrate regional differences in regulation, agency ecosystems, media consumption patterns, and economic conditions into strategic decision-making
Drive transformation across media buying, including digital acceleration, performance transparency, data/tech partnerships, and advanced measurement frameworks
Influence senior leaders across Global Media, Brand Marketing, Regional GMs, Finance, and Legal
Serve as the Procurement lead for major agency partnerships and holding-company relationships across the Americas
Represent the enterprise at industry events, media forums, and agency governance meetings across multiple countries
Lead high-impact negotiations with media agencies, publishers, retail media networks, data partners, and TV networks
Oversee governance and commercial frameworks for traditional and digital media buying
Ensure compliance with diverse regulatory environments
Lead an Americas-wide team of media procurement professionals positioned across the region
Build regional bench strength and succession planning
Foster a culture of operational excellence, curiosity, innovation, and performance accountability
Manage significant regional media investment to deliver year-over-year productivity, ROI improvement, and transparency
Partner with Finance and Global Media to report savings, ROI, and value-creation metrics across all markets
Continuously evaluate and redesign media operating models
Accelerate adoption of advanced media analytics, automation, programmatic transparency, and technology-enabled buying models in all markets
Promote test-and-learn pilots and regional innovation
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required
MBA or advanced degree preferred
12+ years of Media, Marketing Procurement, or Media Agency leadership experience
Significant U.S. market experience REQUIRED
Proven experience managing multi-market remits across the Americas (U.S., Mexico, and at least one other region such as Canada or South America)
Strong commercial and negotiation experience with media agencies, publishers, retail media networks, and ad-tech/data partners
Direct, hands-on negotiation experience with major TV networks in Mexico, including annual investment cycles, rate card negotiations, and commercial performance frameworks
Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and operate within highly matrixed global organizations
Deep understanding of media ecosystems in both the U.S. and Mexico, with working knowledge of broader Latin American markets
Fluency in English and Spanish is required
Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills
