As a Procurement Category Analyst, you will play a central role in supporting the development of 3‑year Category Strategies by delivering high‑quality commercial analytics, insights, and recommendations across our Energy & Indirects or Manufacturing categories. You will be part of the Procurement Analytics team, providing essential analytical support, business intelligence reporting, and technical insight to Procurement Category teams. Your work will contribute to informed decision‑making, improved commercial outcomes, and the identification of opportunities that create tangible value for the business.
Job Responsibility:
Leverage relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and industry bodies / peer organizations for deeper insights into needs and capabilities
Deliver research and insights to support category strategy development and sourcing strategies
Collate external benchmarking insights from peer companies / industry bodies and translate into actionable insights to shape best practice strategies across categories in scope
Generate, analyse, and draw quality insights from large, complex data sets from multiple internal and external procurement and business sources, to build and evolve analytics capabilities that allow regular review and improvement of strategies
Identify, align and extract the market intelligence required to help drive the business forward
Collaborate with the Procurement Services Hub team to develop, test and deploy Category KPI dashboards
Monitor data accuracy, and drive improvement in the completeness and accuracy of data
Support implementation of data collection processes, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
Monitor user feedback and satisfaction with quality of KPI insights / dashboards
Support improvements in forensic spend analytics for categories in scope, identifying areas of non-controlled spend where procurement can drive greater value
Partner with technology and finance to ensure we leverage the procurement technologies we already have to enhance effectiveness and improve outcomes
Consistently use spend data and spend analytics and reporting e.g. PSA
Consistently use Procurement reporting platforms e.g. Power BI
Consistently use third-party data sources to create quality insights e.g. Hackett and ProcurementIQ
Build partnerships and maintains strong relationships with the ability to listen, interpret, influence, negotiate, inspire, and challenge
Communicate insights and findings from analysis and test and learn opportunities to optimise business processes
Identify and share improved ways of working to increase output and process simplification
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
2+ years of experience in a Procurement or Business Analytics field
Expertise in end to end Procurement and Category Management or related Business Consulting Services
Experience in the usage of Procurement platforms and optimisation tools
Graduate or equivalent qualification and member of professional body, e.g., CIPS
