Job Description

An innovative organization within the bio-manufacturing space is seeking an experienced attorney to support procurement and government contracting functions on a contract-to-hire basis. This role focuses on advising within a highly regulated environment and partnering closely with internal stakeholders on matters tied to federal funding and compliance. The position is primarily onsite in Emeryville, with potential for some hybrid flexibility.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide legal support on procurement and contracting matters within a bio-manufacturing environment
  • Advise on government contracts, including compliance with FAR/DFAR regulations
  • Review, draft, and negotiate agreements related to vendors, suppliers, and strategic partnerships
  • Support regulatory and compliance initiatives tied to federally funded programs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (procurement, operations, leadership) on contract strategy and risk assessment
  • Assist with interpretation and application of government reporting and compliance systems (e.g., IRIS)
  • Ensure alignment with applicable state and federal requirements

Requirements

  • Active attorney license (CA preferred or ability to support CA-based operations)
  • Experience supporting procurement and contracting within bio-manufacturing, life sciences, or a similar regulated industry
  • Strong background in government contracts, including familiarity with FAR, DFAR, and related compliance frameworks
  • Experience working with or advising on federally funded programs or government-sponsored initiatives
  • Familiarity with IRIS or similar compliance/reporting systems is a plus
  • Ability to operate independently while partnering effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and issue-spotting skills
