A Procurement Assistant vacancy has become available in the Procurement Team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in starting a career in Procurement. We are looking for talented individuals with a capacity for learning and to take the lead on sub-categories within our goods and services procurement. As part of our close-knit Procurement Team, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your professional knowledge and experience. The Procurement Assistant will take responsibility for smaller value sub-category areas, and support the team as required with various procurement activities. The postholder will be required to interact with internal departments and Suppliers/Contractors, strong communication skills are essential.
Job Responsibility:
Undertake Procurement and Contracting for sub-category areas with support from Team management
Provide Procurement procedural support/advice and guidance to Faculties and Departments to aid Procurement activity across the University
Conduct Contract Management duties, e.g. managing extensions, preparing contracts from templates, advertising opportunities and contract awards etc
Assist the University to achieve value for money through the promotion of best purchasing practice, as well as compliance with internal and external regulations governing Procurement activity
Requirements:
Excellent oral and written communication, and analytical skills
A professional attitude and an ability to communicate positively with a variety of personalities and job roles
Commitment to fairness, inclusivity and the promotion of equality and diversity
Nice to have:
An understanding of Procurement activities, legislation and contract law
Experience of Public Sector Procurement Regulations
