Job Description

The Process Safety Leader is responsible for plant process safety initiatives and plays a critical role leading and driving business and operational objectives. These include EHS, Quality, Productivity, and Cost Effectiveness. They partner and advise maintenance, process technology, engineering and operations on all elements of Process Safety program. Their collaboration includes Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) /Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), risk assessment, process safety training, incident investigation, root cause analysis (RCA), audits, management of change (MOC), prestart up safety reviews, and corrective action management.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage and oversee the site Process Safety Management (PSM) program to ensure all Process Safety Information is accurate, available, and organized for ongoing processes, including but not limited to gatekeeping the Management of Change process (MOC), managing site PSM system (Enablon) as an administrator, and following up with any past due open actions.
  • Ensure site and staff conformity with Grace Process Safety Implementing Procedures and OSHA 1910.119 Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals as well as Risk Management Program
  • Facilitate Process Hazard Analysis and risk assessments - to include HAZOPs, What-Ifs, FMEA, LOPA
  • Manage and oversee the site Safety Instrumented Systems program, including the design installation of new devices
  • Participate in incident investigation and reporting techniques and Root cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA)
  • Responsible for the process safety related material (PSE Events, PHAs, MOCs, process safety audit findings, incident investigation etc)
  • Participate in field walks with proper PPE to evaluate proper safeguards are in place for process startups and process/equipment changes
  • Oversee the Relief and Pressure device site program which includes preparing/reviewing calculations and managing documentation
  • Oversee the site Facility Siting Program
  • Provide input into capital budget to drive improved PSM and EHS deliverables, proactively identify development opportunities to build PSM and EHS expertise

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or Science discipline
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment as Production/Process engineer, Process Technologist, EHS Specialist with hands on experience in Process Safety Management.
  • Proficient in Process Hazard Analysis and risk assessments - including HAZOPs, What-Ifs, FMEA, LOPA
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

  • Bachelor’s degree Chemical Engineering.
  • Education or experience with Primatech PHA Works or Sphera PHA Pro
  • Training/certification in PHA and PSM facilitation and procedures
  • Center for Chemical Process Safety Bootcamp training
