Job Description:

As a Process Operator (Boiler Operator) at Wilmar Sugar and Renewables, you'll be responsible for operating the biomass (bagasse-fired) boilers, turbine generators and boiler auxiliary systems such as feedwater, cooling water, ash and bagasse handling. This position is based at Invicta Mill in North Queensland's Burdekin region. This is a permanent position and operates on a continuous rotating shift roster. The role switches to a day work schedule with RDOs most Fridays during the Maintenance Season.

Job Responsibility:

  • Operate and monitor the boiler station to ensure sufficient steam is produced to drive the alternators and prime movers (shredders, mills, fans and pumps), as well as supplying process heat required for sugar operations
  • Provide regular and accurate feedback to Mill management on station performance through shift logs, maintenance notifications and in-person discussions
  • Assist with the development and training of Boiler Assistants
  • Work with other operating stations to maximise factory performance

Requirements:

  • High Risk Work Licence for Turbine Operator (TO)
  • High Risk Work Licence for Advanced Boiler Operator (BA)
  • Willing and able to achieve relevant sugar milling module competencies
  • Show a strong commitment to safety

Responsible for managing development requirements and opportunities, in relation with the above performance evaluations.
  • Communicates regularly with all Operating Engineers regarding operating requirements, operating and procedural changes etc.
  • Authority to hire, dismiss, promote or demote any employees with duties as Stationary Engineer under the Chief Operating Engineer’s control or supervision.
  • Visually inspects TSSA regulated equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions, need for repair, adjustment or lubrication and coordinated the required work.
  • Authorize, approve and be responsible for all the maintenance, repairs or work performed with the above-mentioned equipment or in connection with that equipment.
  • Responsible for the efficient operation of the river water treatment and process water systems.
