Job Description

INSTALLS, MAINTAINS, AND REPAIRS MACHINERY, EQUIPMENT, AND PHYSICAL STRUCTURES IN A FOOD PROCESSING PLANT DESIGNED TO PRODUCE FROZEN POTATO PRODUCTS.

Working in a safe and orderly manner while in the plant on the plant property
visually inspecting and testing machinery and equipment
listening for unusual sounds and viewing machines and equipment to detect malfunctions and discussing machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine
dismantling defective machines and equipment and installing new or repaired parts
cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery
repairing and maintaining physical structure of establishment
laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipe systems and related steam and refrigeration, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairing and replacing gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment
operating cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
setting up and operating machine tools such as lathe, mill, grinder, and drills, to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures and tools
performing others as assigned

One year certificate from college or technical school
or three to six months related experience and/or training
or equivalent combination of education and experience
minimum of one year experience in a maintenance position
must have own set of hand tools
ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and peers
ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers
ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
