We are seeking a Process Engineer to join a premier automotive manufacturing facility in Southwestern Ontario. In this role, you will ensure that all internal manufacturing systems meet or exceed requirements for safety, quality, flexibility, and throughput. You will be responsible for establishing process parameters, developing checks and balances for conformance, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to maintain long-term profitability. This scope covers all capital equipment and tooling for large-scale manufacturing systems, including hydroforming, hot-stamping, and robotic assembly.
Job Responsibility:
Operational Optimization: Conduct detailed time studies and cycle-time evaluations to streamline line balancing and maximize throughput efficiency
Collaborative Problem Solving: Partner with cross-functional departments to dissect downtime trends and quality issues, developing and executing sustainable corrective actions
Technical Communications: Author and deliver comprehensive technical briefings and presentations to senior engineering leadership and management
Change Management & Implementation: Evaluate the viability of internal and external engineering change requests, providing cost-impact analysis and overseeing the end-to-end procurement, installation, and commissioning of necessary equipment
Root Cause Leadership: Spearhead deep-dive investigations into equipment failures and product defects to identify and eliminate underlying issues
Vendor Specifications: Author detailed 'Scope of Work' (SOW) documentation for new program rollouts, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and ongoing continuous improvement initiatives for external partners
System Integration: Manage relationships with various vendors and integrators to develop and deploy advanced manufacturing and assembly lines from the design phase through to Start of Production (SOP)
Innovative Research: Identify and integrate emerging technologies to elevate plant safety standards, product quality, and manufacturing cost-efficiency
Maintenance Strategy: Support the development of preventative and predictive maintenance protocols to ensure long-term equipment reliability
Project Oversight: Direct the scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation for both minor modifications and major capital projects, ensuring deadlines are met for new program launches
Site Inspections & Buyoffs: Travel to client and supplier facilities to verify tooling builds, conduct formal equipment buyoffs, and address quality discrepancies
Engineering Documentation: Maintain meticulous records, including progress reports, performance charts, and project-specific technical data
Quality Assurance Alignment: Facilitate and support internal activities to ensure all customer-specific quality milestones and compliance standards are achieved
Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Offer expert guidance on product design to ensure parts are optimized for efficient, high-quality production
General Support: Execute additional technical and administrative tasks as required by the department
Requirements:
Engineering Degree/Diploma OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience OR a Certificate of Qualification in a related trade
At least 4 years of relevant professional experience
Experience with Robotic spot/MIG weld assembly
Professional designations such as P.Eng. or PMP (asset)
Strong mechanical aptitude
