Job Responsibility:
Lead or support the delivery of high-value process engineering design solutions, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), heat and mass balances, process calculations, and technical specifications
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—mechanical, EC&I, SHEQ, and project management—to ensure fully integrated and compliant solutions for clients
Apply expert knowledge of process engineering principles, process systems, and regulatory requirements to design robust, safe and cost-effective processes
Undertake rigorous technical calculations, modelling and simulations to verify performance and ensure regulatory, client, and stakeholder requirements are met
Actively participate in HAZOPs, LOPA studies, safety and constructability reviews, and other risk management activities
Mentor and develop less experienced engineers, supporting a collaborative, knowledgeable and high-performing team environment
Prepare, review and update technical documentation, proposals, procurement specifications and client reports
Requirements:
Degree-level qualification (or equivalent relevant experience) in chemical engineering, process engineering or a related discipline
Substantial experience in process design and engineering delivery, ideally within regulated industries (nuclear, chemical, energy, oil & gas, or heavy/process industry)
Proficient in process engineering software and tools (e.g. Aspen HYSYS, AutoCAD, process simulation packages)
Strong understanding of UK and international process engineering standards, legislation, and best practice
Proven ability to produce, check and validate process design deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets and calculations
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to colleagues, clients, and stakeholders from varied backgrounds
Organised and analytical, with a focus on quality, risk management and continuous improvement
Willingness and ability to travel to client and project sites as required
