As an Automation Engineer, you will join our engineering consulting team and support a diverse portfolio of client projects across industrial manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, utilities, and process industries. Acting as a technical consultant, you will work closely with client stakeholders to design, develop, implement, and optimize automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle—from requirements gathering and system design to programming, testing, commissioning, and post-implementation support. This role offers exposure to a variety of technologies, industries, and customer environments, providing opportunities to broaden your technical expertise while delivering high-impact solutions.
Job Responsibility
Support clients in the design and implementation of industrial automation and digitalization projects
Analyze customer requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications
Develop, configure, and maintain PLC, SCADA, and HMI applications
Participate in control system architecture design and system integration activities
Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and validation activities
Perform commissioning and start-up support at client facilities
Troubleshoot automation systems and provide technical expertise to resolve operational issues
Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including process engineers, software developers, project managers, and maintenance teams
Support modernization, migration, and optimization initiatives for existing automation platforms
Contribute to the deployment of Industrial IoT, data acquisition, and smart manufacturing solutions
Ensure compliance with industry standards, quality requirements, and cybersecurity best practices
Prepare technical documentation, user manuals, and project reports
Share technical knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across projects
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field
Experience in industrial automation, control systems engineering, or related technical environments
Hands-on experience with PLC programming and automation platforms
Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, industrial communication networks, and system integration
Familiarity with commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation activities
Understanding of industrial protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, or similar technologies
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients and project stakeholders
Fluent in English
Dutch is considered an advantage
Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites within the Netherlands and internationally
Nice to have
Experience with Schneider Electric, Siemens, Rockwell Automation, ABB, or similar automation platforms
Exposure to Industrial IoT, MES, Industry 4.0, or digital transformation initiatives
Knowledge of energy management systems and sustainable industrial solutions
Experience working in consulting, engineering services, or project-based environments
Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity standards and best practices
