At The University of Law, we are passionate about making a difference through education and access to justice. Our Pro Bono Service provides vital legal support to individuals and communities while offering our students invaluable opportunities to develop their legal and professional skills. We are seeking a Pro Bono Co-ordinator to join the Newcastle team on a part-time basis (28 hours per week 0.6 FTE) to lead the design and delivery of an engaging, innovative and fully online pro bono programme that meets the diverse needs of our online student community.
Job Responsibility:
Design and deliver a comprehensive online pro bono programme accessible to all students
Supervise students undertaking pro bono legal work, providing feedback, training and support to develop their legal and professional skills
Ensure compliance with SRA and FCA regulations, GDPR, and the University’s internal quality standards
Build and maintain relationships with external partners including law firms, chambers, courts, in-house legal teams and third-sector organisations
Monitor and evaluate programme performance through student feedback, data analysis and regular reporting
Promote pro bono activity across the University community and within the wider profession
Collaborate with colleagues in the Employability Service to deliver national initiatives, workshops and events
Contribute to the University’s strategic aims by providing an exceptional experience for students and external stakeholders
Requirements:
Qualified solicitor (eligible to practise, with indemnity insurance provided by the University)
Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience
Proven ability to design and deliver effective pro bono or legal education programmes
Strong understanding of applied legal research and supervision
Excellent communication, organisation and IT skills (including Microsoft Office and Teams)
Ability to work autonomously, meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
Commitment to the values of access to justice and student development
Nice to have:
