Job Description:

Our client seeks a skilled and reliable Gardener to join the team on their prestigious private estate near Andover, on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border, UK. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for horticulture, a strong work ethic, and the opportunity to maintain and enhance the estate’s gardens, lawns, and outdoor areas. Working under the guidance of the Head Gardener, the Gardener will ensure the grounds are always presented to the highest standard, providing a welcoming environment for the family, residents and visitors.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain gardens, lawns, borders, trees, shrubs, and planted areas to a high standard
  • Plant, prune, weed, feed, and water as required to ensure healthy and attractive grounds
  • Operate garden machinery safely, including ride-on and pedestrian mowers, tractors, and hand tools
  • Assist with seasonal planting, landscaping projects, and general garden improvements
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and machinery in good working order
  • Monitor and manage pests, weeds, and diseases in outdoor areas
  • Ensure outdoor areas are tidy, safe, and well-presented at all times
  • Support other estate or household teams with outdoor or light maintenance tasks when required
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and best practices

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in private or commercial gardening
  • Knowledge of horticultural practices for lawns, shrubs, trees, and ornamental planting
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Physical stamina for outdoor and manual work
  • Experience operating garden machinery safely (mowers, tractors, hand tools)
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
  • Discreet, reliable, and professional
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a proactive attitude
  • A valid UK driving licence
