Job Description:

The Infrastructure Systems Engineering team is building a next-generation private cloud infrastructure as part of a greenfield initiative. The role involves driving the top-level design and evolution of the private cloud with ownership of network architecture, focusing on security, scalability, and cost efficiency. The role offers the opportunity to shape SingleStore’s private cloud strategy while exploring AI-powered approaches to automation, monitoring, and infrastructure optimization.

Job Responsibility:

  • Engage in the design and development of major infrastructure components and systems, focusing on fault tolerance and performance
  • Provide organizational expertise in network architecture, security, and best practices
  • Practice principles of distributed leadership
  • Own your systems end-to-end from design to production
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure the successful integration and operation of our infrastructure systems
  • Foster an environment where people take chances
  • Enable fact-driven decision-making
  • Drive continuous improvement in system reliability and usability

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of experience developing and optimizing systems software and infrastructure architecture
  • Deep expertise in networking
  • Experience with, or at least hobbyist interest in, distributed elastic AI / LLM CPU inference (e.g. OpenVino, llama.cpp)
  • Natural curiosity or drive to learn about new or adjacent technologies
  • Experience designing, developing, and/or troubleshooting distributed systems
  • Comfort with at least one systems programming language (C/C++, golang) and one scripting language (python, bash)
  • Comfort with shells on *nix family systems
  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of zero-trust security models and private cloud compliance standards
  • Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity
  • Experience with low latency networking (e.g. DPDK, RDMA)
  • Experience implementing SLAs/SLOs, incident management, and reliability best practices
  • Experience with, or interest in, applying AI to automate private cloud insights and improvements
  • Familiarity with, or interest in, SingleStore or other distributed SQL databases
