Job Description

Partner with Product & Engineering teams to identify and address legal and compliance risks throughout the product development lifecycle; Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs/DPIAs) for new products, features, and data processing activities; Provide guidance and support to the Commercial Legal Team regarding privacy & data protection issues in customer and supplier contracts; Monitor global privacy & data protection laws and regulatory trends, developments, and industry best practices; Maintain and update internal and external privacy and data protection policies, procedures, guidance, and other documentation; Support privacy audits and assessments, and respond to privacy-related inquiries from customers, regulators, and other stakeholders; Provide overall support for the ongoing management and operation of the company's Global Privacy Program

Requirements

  • J.D. (or equivalent)
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience at a leading private practice law firm and/or in-house at a technology company
  • Strong working knowledge of global privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, etc.)
  • Demonstrated commercial technology contract drafting and negotiation experience with a focus on privacy and data protection
  • Experience with business practices and product counseling in the technology industry
  • IAPP certification (CIPP/E/US/C) is considered an asset

  • Be a trusted advisor to product managers, engineering, product marketing managers, and security teams, ensure compliance, respond to incidents, and revise and update policies, processes, and documentation governing data and product releases

  • Contribute to overall company success, draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of privacy and technology contracts and other legal documents, including privacy policies and notices, DPAs, BAAs, Security Addenda, licensing agreements, reseller, strategic partnership agreements, and data-related vendor-side contracts
