Privacy and Civil Liberties Software Engineer

• Architect, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend services that underpin critical workflows for governance, privacy, and security
• Build new greenfield solutions for emerging challenges in privacy and Responsible AI and iterate with customers in the field to refine these solutions based on real-world feedback
• Design and develop interactive workflow user-interfaces to make technical concepts accessible to users from a variety of backgrounds
• Maintain high coding standards by actively participating in code reviews and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing among your team
• Actively improve user workflows by collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless experiences across product boundaries and a cohesive user experience
• Work closely with other Palantir engineers and customers to advise on best practices for privacy, data governance, and Responsible AI in Palantir software platforms

• 2+ years of frontend and backend software engineering experience
• Engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics or similar field
• Experience in designing and developing features and improvements, as well as supporting and maintaining live backend systems
• In-depth understanding of data structures, system architecture, API development for microservices frameworks and programming languages such as Java, Python, or similar languages
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks, web technologies, and programming languages such as JavaScript/Typescript, or similar languages
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience and curiosity in any of the following domains is a plus: privacy, data protection, AI testing & evaluation, AI fairness/bias, technology ethics
