ICON is seeking a Printing Test Technician II to support the testing, operation, and continuous improvement of ICON’s large-scale 3D printing systems. This role is hands-on and requires strong technical skills in fabrication, troubleshooting, and system operations. Reporting to the Printing Test Technician Lead, the Technician II will operate printers and test rigs, fabricate test articles, support data collection and reporting, and contribute to process and system improvements.
Job Responsibility:
Operate and monitor ICON printers, test rigs, and related systems with minimal supervision
Support the setup and execution of test activities, including printer calibration, test article fabrication, reinforcement placement, and build execution
Assist with site setup and logistics, including preparing materials, operating support equipment, and ensuring readiness of test environments
Document operational steps, data, and test results accurately in compliance with SOPs
Communicate progress and escalate issues promptly to maintain schedule and operational efficiency
Fabricate and integrate test articles, components, and assemblies using mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems
Perform intermediate-level fabrication, including cutting, fastening, and fitting reinforcement or test structures
Support installation of electrical and fluid connections for printer and system setup
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems to diagnose and resolve issues
Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters to identify and repair faults
Support repairs, part replacements, and calibrations under the guidance of senior technicians or engineers
Assist with preventative maintenance activities to ensure printer reliability and minimize downtime
Collect and report test data, including material properties, system performance, and test outcomes
Maintain accurate records in ticketing and reporting systems
Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to implementation
Ensure 100% compliance with safety procedures and SOPs during all operations
Requirements:
High school diploma required
1–3 years of hands-on experience in fabrication, manufacturing, robotics, or a related technical field
Demonstrated ability to operate and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems
Advanced fabrication and assembly skills (mechanical and/or electrical)
Proficiency in basic diagnostic tools (multimeter, schematics, calibration tools)
Ability to follow SOPs and escalate technical issues effectively
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Comfort working in dynamic, field-based, and hands-on testing environments
Nice to have:
Associate’s degree or relevant technical certification preferred
Experience operating large-scale machinery, test systems, or automation equipment
Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, or industrial controls
Understanding of hydraulic systems and preventative maintenance practices
Basic knowledge of ticketing or reporting systems (Procore, Jira, or equivalent)
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
