The Print Shop Shift Lead drives the day-to-day operations of the company’s in-house print shop, ensuring high-quality, on-time, cost-effective production and fulfillment. This role leads a team of print and fulfillment professionals to follow standards, meet deadlines, and be a problem solver for the team. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, and motivated to remove bottlenecks, and be flexible with managing multiple priorities across print production and fulfillment.
Job Responsibility:
Receive, review and assign work to the appropriate printers from the internal workflow system
Identify and prioritize work for appropriate printers and timelines to ensure printed in priority order
Ensure that the correct jobs are routed to the printer by comparing print request data to the actual output and samples job
Review layouts, proofs, and files for print accuracy and production readiness
Maintain postal records using specified USPS forms
Enforce quality control standards that meets standards and approve final print jobs
Ensure adherence to turnaround times, deadlines, and service levels
Continually monitor print quality by reviewing work as it is printed
Trouble-shoot software issues and print production issues
Oversee equipment utilization, conduct preventative maintenance and maintain in-house maintenance records
Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment
Lead, train and mentor a team of print operators and fulfillment staff
model a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Provide a high-level of customer service and professionalism when interacting with vendors and team members
Requirements:
3+ years of experience in print production, in-house print operations, in a related fulfillment/production environment
Demonstrated experience driving process improvement, operational optimization, and workflow standardization
Strong working knowledge of print production workflows (digital print preferred), RIP software, color management, and fulfillment operations
Ability to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines, and fluctuating demand with calm competence
Communicate any potential risks and create mitigation options to solve issues
Ability to stand for extended periods and move materials/equipment as needed (reasonable accommodations available)
Ability to lift, up to 50 pounds, and move supplies around the building
Comfortable working in a production environment with printers, finishing equipment, and shipping supplies
May be required to cover some shifts on occasion that are outside normal business hours
Nice to have:
Experience leading and training in a corporate or mid-large size business print operation
