Job Description

Our client is a global digital-experience group operating across gaming, sport, and adjacent entertainment verticals. With a long track record of building and scaling high-performance consumer brands, the organisation combines data-driven product development, advanced marketing capabilities, and proprietary technology to deliver engaging user experiences at scale. The company is entering a period of strategic growth and innovation, creating a strong platform for senior leaders to influence direction and drive impact across multiple markets. Reporting into the Head of SEO, our client is seeking a senior Individual Contributor role for a deeply technical SEO specialist who wants to remain hands-on and operate as the highest-ranking technical authority across a portfolio of high-value, revenue-critical digital assets. The Principal Technical SEO will work on complex sites and domain networks in highly competitive search environments, owning technical audits, diagnostics, and improvements end to end. This role is suited to someone who thrives “in the trenches” - solving difficult architectural, crawling, and performance challenges at scale - while collaborating closely with engineering, product, and other SEO specialists, without the responsibility of people management

Job Responsibility

  • Act as the Principal Technical SEO authority across assigned digital assets
  • Own and execute deep, ongoing technical SEO audits on large-scale sites and domain networks
  • Identify & resolve issues related to crawlability, indexation, rendering, site architecture, internal linking & scalability
  • Drive improvements in site performance, Core Web Vitals, and technical stability
  • Analyse ranking volatility and performance changes, proactively identifying technical risks and opportunities
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Product, Content, and On-page SEO teams to ensure correct and timely implementation
  • Translate complex technical findings into clear, prioritised, actionable recommendations
  • Stay ahead of search engine algorithm changes and evolving technical SEO best practices
  • Set and maintain technical SEO standards across the organisation while remaining execution-focused

Requirements

  • SEO experience, with a strong emphasis on technical SEO
  • Demonstrated success working on large, complex websites or multi-domain networks
  • Experience ranking and maintaining performance in extreme-competition verticals (e.g. iGaming, finance, legal, health, travel, major SaaS, large publishers)
  • Deep technical knowledge including crawling, indexing, rendering, JavaScript SEO, log file analysis, and site architecture at scale
  • Strong systems thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable operating as a senior Individual Contributor with no direct reports
  • Broad SEO knowledge (on-page and off-page), even though the role is strictly technical
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe

Nice to have

Engineering or development experience is a strong advantage but not mandatory
