Job Description:

As the Head of Building Surveying, you will take over the leadership of the projects team from a senior member of the Management Team. Your focus will be on high-volume capital works and compliance-led projects.

Job Responsibility:

  • Take over the leadership of the projects team from a senior member of the Management Team
  • Focus on high-volume capital works and compliance-led projects
  • Manage a dedicated team (Principal, Building, and Junior Surveyors), including mentoring junior staff and leading by example
  • Take full operational responsibility for capital projects across Worcestershire schools ranging from boiler and window replacements to new-build classroom extensions
  • Lead the full project lifecycle, including building pathology, design work, and contract administration
  • Act as the primary face for school stakeholders, ensuring all delivery meets the high standards of a very loyal customer base
  • Ensure all works and team behaviours strictly adhere to safeguarding protocols within the school environment

Requirements:

  • MCIOB or MRICS status is essential
  • Proven background in building pathology and delivering capital works, ideally within the Education or Local Authority sectors
  • Supportive and encouraging management style
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Candidates from a Council or Consultancy background are preferred
