Job Description

Morson Edge is currently recruiting for a Principal Town Planner to join an established planning-led consultancy based in Gloucestershire. With a diverse project pipeline covering residential, strategic land, and renewable energy schemes, this is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of projects, work independently, and contribute to the growth of a high-performing team. You’ll be working alongside a small, experienced team, managing projects from inception through to completion, and helping to mentor junior staff while supporting client management and business development.

Job Responsibility

  • Managing a varied portfolio of planning projects, including residential, strategic, and renewable schemes, from inception through to delivery
  • Taking responsibility for client relationships and managing consultants where required
  • Preparing planning applications, statements, reports, and supporting technical documents
  • Participating in public consultations and representing projects to stakeholders
  • Mentoring and developing junior team members, supporting their technical growth
  • Contributing to business development, promoting services, and supporting the team’s growth

Requirements

  • MRTPI (or working towards) with strong private-sector experience, ideally from a consultancy environment
  • Proven experience managing development control projects and residential schemes
  • Direct client management experience and the ability to take projects from inception to delivery
  • Confident and independent, with the ability to take a strategic view while delivering practical outcomes
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on practical delivery rather than excessive detail
  • Experience in renewable energy projects and/or minerals planning advantageous but not essential
