Job Description

Team Description: Security represents the most critical priorities for our customers in a world awash in digital threats, regulatory scrutiny, and estate complexity. Microsoft Security aspires to make the world a safer place for all. We want to reshape security and empower every user, customer, and developer with a security cloud that protects them with end to end, simplified solutions. The Microsoft Security organization accelerates Microsoft’s mission and bold ambitions to ensure that our company and industry is securing digital technology platforms, devices, and clouds in our customers’ heterogeneous environments, as well as ensuring the security of our own internal estate. Our culture is centered on embracing a growth mindset, a theme of inspiring excellence, and encouraging teams and leaders to bring their best each day. In doing so, we create life-changing innovations that impact billions of lives around the world. The Identity Buildout TPM team drives the end-to-end expansion of Microsoft Entra into new regions, sovereign clouds, and regulated environments worldwide. The team owns the technical program strategy and execution required to bring identity services online in new geographies—from early architecture and dependency alignment through deployment, validation, and steady-state operations. This includes enabling new region and sovereign cloud launches, establishing identity-native trust and resiliency models, coordinating across Azure and Microsoft 365 dependencies, and building repeatable “factory” approaches for global expansion. The team also drives automation, operational readiness, and long-term scalability to ensure Entra services can be deployed consistently and securely across diverse regulatory and infrastructure landscapes. As a Principal TPM in Entra, you will lead high-risk, high-visibility initiatives spanning multiple product areas, engineering teams, and partner organizations. You will define and drive programs that shape Entra’s long-term technical direction, operating model, and geographic expansion strategy. You will operate as both a technical and programmatic authority—setting direction, aligning senior stakeholders, and ensuring durable, scalable outcomes. This role goes beyond executing defined programs; you will identify systemic gaps, create new program frameworks, and deliver solutions that scale across the platform. Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Job Responsibility

  • Define and lead complex technical programs with broad organizational and customer impact across Microsoft Entra
  • Drive initiatives that improve availability, scalability, security, compliance, and geographic expansion, including new region and sovereign cloud enablement
  • Translate ambiguous problem spaces into clear strategies, execution plans, and multi-year roadmaps
  • Lead deep technical discussions on architecture, design trade-offs, and operational readiness with senior engineering and product leaders
  • Align senior stakeholders across organizations and influence without authority to deliver shared outcomes
  • Anticipate systemic risks and dependencies, driving mitigation strategies across services and teams
  • Establish scalable processes and standards that improve execution quality, predictability, and transparency
  • Mentor and coach senior TPMs, raising the bar for technical rigor, program excellence, and leadership

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8–10+ years leading large-scale, cross-organizational technical programs
  • 3+ years across the full software development lifecycle, from concept through delivery and operations
  • Deep technical understanding of cloud services, distributed systems, or identity/security platforms
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive execution in highly ambiguous environments
  • Experience supporting global service expansion, sovereign clouds, or regulated environments
  • Strong background in service reliability, operational excellence, and large-scale cloud infrastructure
  • Demonstrated success driving platform-level or organization-wide change

Job Responsibility
  • You will translate early-stage research from Microsoft Research and applied R&D into shippable cloud AI capabilities, shaping technical concepts into product roadmaps with researchers, driving execution with Azure engineering teams, and managing external hardware and software suppliers to land critical dependencies on time and on spec
  • You will partner with MSR researchers, Azure engineering teams, and external hardware and software vendors to design technical solutions that span models, systems, and hardware. You will surface the trade-offs and risks behind those choices and make data-driven recommendations to research and engineering leads, and supplier partners
