Job Description:

Principal Engineer role performing gap analysis, implementing resiliency, observability and operational automation for both on-prem, hybrid, and native cloud applications. Must provide expert troubleshooting, reduce mean time to resolve production outages, and mentor platform engineers.

Job Responsibility:

Act as advisor to leadership to develop applications and technologies
Lead strategy and resolution of complex challenges
Translate technology experience into engineering solutions
Ensure high availability and performance of production systems
Design and implement scalability, reliability, and observability strategies
Define SLIs, SLOs, and Error Budgets
Provide vision and direction for business solutions
Maintain knowledge of industry best practices
Strategically engage with professionals across the enterprise
Own and drive alarming, monitoring, toil reduction and risk reduction

Requirements:

7+ years of Engineering experience
7+ years of experience leading observability and monitoring tooling
7+ years in infrastructure (windows and Linux) support
5+ years proven success in toil reduction initiatives
5+ years in cloud application management
Ability to troubleshoot the full application stack, operating system stack and middleware
Deep understanding of java applications including how to read a thread dump and use of java flight recorder
Ability to quickly script for new alarms and execute according to company approved alerting tools
Ability to dynamically engage and attend high impact production incidents and troubleshoot to resolution
Experience setting up distributed tracing across an internet topology
Ability to mentor platform teams by training, documenting, certifying and building skill sets
Knowledge and understanding of AI capabilities
Experience leading proof of concepts and prototyping
Experience leading the execution of critical/complex project deliverables
Strong communication with the ability to communicate on all levels of the organization
