The Principal Subsurface Workflow Advisor provides high-level technical leadership across subsurface data, technology, and workflow domains. This role ensures the integrity, quality, and accessibility of subsurface data while driving strategic improvements across geoscience, reservoir, production, GIS, and permit data environments. You will lead cross-functional initiatives, oversee subsurface computing environments, and deliver strategic tooling that supports exploration and development decision-making. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to influence across multiple disciplines.
Job Responsibility
Ensure safe operations in line with company policies, protecting people, assets, and the environment
Manage subsurface data across geoscience, reservoir, production, GIS, and permit domains
Maintain data quality, standards, governance, and compliance
Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve data acquisition, loading, archiving, and accessibility
Oversee data flow into and out of corporate and project data stores
Manage QA/QC processes to maintain a reliable upstream subsurface database
Own and optimise the Subsurface Petrotechnical Computing environment, including current-state assessment and future-state planning
Deliver strategic subsurface tooling, including project planning, execution, migration, and post-deployment support
Provide expert guidance on subsurface workflows, technologies, and data lifecycle management
Requirements
Experience as a Petrotechnical, Data, or Technology Manager across well, seismic, spatial, production, HPC, or system admin domains
Experience within operator subsurface teams or service-company technical environments
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
Ability to synthesise and prioritise large volumes of information
Proven ability to meet strict timelines
Strong communication skills, able to explain data and technology concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong understanding of subsurface data standards, workflows, and deliverables
Knowledge of petrotechnical interpretation platforms and modern subsurface technologies
Familiarity with hybrid and cloud infrastructure options (Cegal, WSaaS, AWS Local, Azure Local)
Experience with upstream data types, archiving, retention, and E&P asset lifecycle
Strong grasp of data quality control and geoscience knowledge domains
