Job Description:

This role is part of the Proxy and Remote Access Security function within the Cyber Technology and Engineering (CTE) organisation, providing a Cybersecurity security technology expertise and engineer service to the wider HSBC organisation. This role supports and is supported by the Head of Proxy and Remote Access and the Head of Network Security, with the expectation that the Principal SME – Proxy and Remote Access provides technical expertise and SME knowledge to the engagements and projects assigned to them, taking ownership, and driving to a successful conclusion, and supports other Cybersecurity or Connectivity Engineering team members providing coaching, guidance and leadership as needed, whilst ensuring the Head of Proxy and Remote access Security and the Head of Network Security are kept updated on any issues requiring support.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
  • Coach and guide both cybersecurity and non-cybersecurity team members as needed
  • Seek ways to improve the set quality benchmark
  • Support implementation of identified corrective and preventive actions to resolve issues
  • Providing subject matter engineering, thought leadership and project delivery in relation to internet content filtering and remote access security control issues and initiatives
  • Take the lead on larger, more complex engagements, representing Network Security interests as delegate for team lead

Requirements:

  • Detailed understanding of network design, firewalling and micro segmentation, content filtering, load balancing, DDoS, NAC, WAF, network segmentation, remote network access technologies
  • Detailed understanding of network security threats and risks
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience interacting with technical leaders and various layers of management
  • Ability to build connections and work collaboratively across boundaries
  • Willingness to continuously learn and share learnings with others
  • Experience of guiding other colleagues and supporting their development
  • Proficient with Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong customer focus with a drive to deliver standards of service to internal clients at least equivalent to external providers
  • Able to work with many simultaneous tasks in a pressurized, time-sensitive environment
  • Able to positively challenge others without having authority or seniority over them
  • Able to take the lead on projects and engagements and work independently or with minimal guidance from team lead to drive to a successful conclusion
