Job Description

An established Local Authority is seeking a senior Building Control professional to take on a leadership position within its Midlands-based operations. This is offered on an initial six-month rolling engagement, with continuation beyond this period highly anticipated. The position is largely home-based, with only occasional attendance required at an office location.

Job Responsibility

  • Guiding and mentoring a Building Control function
  • Ensuring technical standards are met
  • Contributing to plan assessments and on-site inspections
  • Covering a mixture of residential and/or commercial schemes

Requirements

  • Proven background in supervising or overseeing Registered Building Inspectors
  • Worked at a senior level such as Principal Inspector, Team Lead, or equivalent management role
  • CLASS 3 & 4 registration preferable

  • Provide advice to the statutory duty holders on both new and existing buildings categorised as Higher Risk Buildings during the design, construction, and occupation phases
  • Deliver projects to the required quality and contributing to business growth and development activities
  • Provide an expert point of reference on legislative and procedural matter relating to the application of the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and the associated Secondary Legislation
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement process within the business unit, assisting in the development of new assurance services
  • Brief project teams on the requirements of the BSA 2022 and their required duties and competences
  • Support clients throughout the project at design team meetings
  • Review and advise on competence submissions
  • Identify potential BSA 2022 compliance risks
  • Support, review, and advise on building control approval (GW2) and completion certification (GW3) and the details of submission requirements
