As the Principal Project Accountant/Analyst, you will act as the financial backbone for a key departmental project, taking full ownership of end-to-end financial management to ensure sustainable and transparent delivery. You will work at the intersection of corporate finance and project delivery, providing the high-level analysis and robust frameworks necessary to translate complex data into actionable executive insights.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and contribute to the end-to-end delivery of project accounting services, including budgeting, financial management, and performance reporting
Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, alongside comprehensive general project accounting duties to support the project lifecycle
Develop high-quality, detailed costing models and accurate forecasts to underpin informed decision-making across the project
Prepare sophisticated financial reports, briefing materials, and formal submissions for presentation to program boards and senior executive leadership
Lead financial analysis and provide expert support for tender and bid evaluations, while overseeing contract management and monitoring vendor financial performance
Build and maintain collaborative, constructive relationships with internal clients and stakeholders to resolve emergent financial issues
Ensure all project financial activities remain fully compliant with the Queensland Government financial management frameworks and standards
Promote a workplace culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion while proactively managing the performance and conduct of your staff
Requirements:
Previous experience working within a government environment is strictly required
Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting within a project-based environment
