Microsoft Edge sits at the center of how users experience the web, Windows, and AI-powered productivity. As the browser evolves from a productivity surface into an intelligent, AI-first platform, we are extending the Edge charter forward—across core browser capabilities, AI experiences, Windows Copilot integration, and the underlying web platform (Chromium). We are seeking a Principal Product Manager who will play a defining role in shaping the long-term product direction of Microsoft Edge. This role is about devising product shape, not just shipping features—setting vision, defining bets, influencing adjacent platforms, and ensuring that Edge continues to be a first-class surface for users, developers, and the broader Windows + Copilot ecosystem. This is a senior, high-impact role intended for product leaders who thrive in ambiguity, think at ecosystem scale, and are motivated by extending a charter rather than executing within fixed boundaries.
Job Responsibility:
Define the long-term product shape and north star for Edge core capabilities, AI features in Edge, and deep Windows Copilot integration
Identify and frame high-leverage problems where browsers, AI, and operating systems intersect, and turn them into clear product strategies
Extend the Edge charter by influencing adjacent surfaces such as Windows Copilot, system-level experiences, and developer platforms
Own and evolve core browser capabilities (e.g., navigation, state, performance, privacy, extensibility, and user trust)
Drive product thinking across platform foundations including profiles, sync, identity, security, and performance
Partner closely with engineering to shape foundational investments, not just feature roadmaps
Define AI-first user experiences in Edge that go beyond incremental enhancements
Shape how Copilot manifests inside the browser, across tasks such as creation, discovery, comprehension, and automation
Collaborate with Windows and M365 Copilot teams to ensure coherence, clarity of roles, and differentiated value for Edge
Act as a product voice for Microsoft within the Chromium ecosystem
Influence web platform direction to unlock future Edge and Windows scenarios
Balance open-web principles with Edge-specific differentiation and strategic advantage
Work across highly diverse stakeholders: engineering, design, research, data science, Windows, Copilot, developer platform teams, legal, and privacy
Navigate ambiguity, negotiate tradeoffs, and align teams around shared outcomes without direct authority
Represent Edge product strategy in executive and cross-company forums
Use data, user research, and experimentation to validate hypotheses and drive prioritization
Ensure product bets are grounded in user value, long-term leverage, and strategic fit
Translate learning into scalable platform investments
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
Solid experience shipping and evolving large-scale, user-facing platforms
Proven ability to operate at both strategic and execution depth
Nice to have:
Deep understanding of browsers, operating systems, developer platforms, or the web ecosystem
Experience working with or influencing open-source platforms (e.g., Chromium)
Solid product intuition for AI-powered experiences and human-AI interaction
Demonstrated ability to lead through influence in complex, cross-org environments
