Job Description

Microsoft AI is driving the next wave of innovation across Copilot, Bing, Edge, MSN, and other AI first experiences. We are looking for an experienced Principal Product Manager to invent the future of the Web as part of the Microsoft Edge web platform team. Our mission is to steward the web platform by delivering new capabilities, improvements, and innovations that equip the Web to thrive amid a rapidly changing technology landscape. In Edge, we are innovating to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging foundational technologies like artificial intelligence, new monetization paradigms, novel hardware and interaction paradigms, and the continuous need to raise the bar for end user experience including performance, accessibility, and privacy. As a Web Platform Principal Product Manager, you will work to identify and deliver solutions for the unmet needs of our customers, including web developers, publishers, and end users across platforms, browsers, and operating systems. You will build deep familiarity with the needs of developers, from platform primitives to developer frameworks and tools. You will think deeply about how artificial intelligence can enable novel solutions and accelerate the delivery of new experiences for developers and end users. You will critically evaluate how new capabilities affect the quality of the user experience, fundamental expectations around performance, privacy and accessibility, and the ecosystem of publishers, advertisers, and creators across the Web. You will work with industry groups like the Chromium project, and standards bodies like the W3C, to socialize and iterate on innovate proposals on behalf of the Web community. This opportunity will empower you to deliver meaningful impact for tens of millions of developers and billions of Web users, and to enable a thriving Web for the next era of computing.

Job Responsibility

  • Drive business impact across the organization and track success criteria for web platform features and strategic initiatives
  • Identify long-term investment opportunities and engage internal and external partners to validate requirements and garner support for features and initiatives
  • Define platform features to meet the needs of internal and external partners
  • Define requirements with customers and facilitate API design, iteration, and experimentation with cross-functional stakeholders internally and with industry groups including standards bodies and open-source projects
  • Own the roadmap for multiple feature areas and will collaborate with partner teams to build golden configurations and drive scenario walkthroughs
  • Scale Product Marketing teams by helping build marketing, roll-out, and customer support plans
  • Promote the feature areas you worked on and present at large events
  • Partner with others to collect performance metrics and form hypotheses for complex technical needs in order to improve product development in targeted areas
  • Identify features to deprecate, manage customer communities, and build trust with targeted customers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
  • OR equivalent experience
  • Professional experience with web technologies including HTML, JS, and CSS
  • Professional experience working on web browsers or in web standards (or similar related experience) or building developer-facing products (developer tools, app platforms, etc.)
  • Experience using artificial intelligence tools for web development including e.g. agentic coding tools (such as GitHub Copilot), MCP, Google Antigravity, Claude Code, etc.
  • Experience with developer relations and/or developer advocacy (e.g. evangelizing developer tools or frameworks in articles, blogs, social media, videos, etc
  • presenting at developer conferences
  • working directly with highly technical customers to gather and synthesize requirements
  • influencing product roadmaps on behalf of customer requirements)
  • Experience with product development for large web applications (e.g. web apps, desktop/mobile applications built on the web platform, etc.)

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. • Customer-Hosted Web SDK (0→1): Customers want their authentication experience to feel like theirs — on their domain, in their design language, with no redirects. Today that level of control requires building from scratch. Define and deliver the SDK that gives customers complete UX ownership while we handle the security and scale underneath.
  • Modern Web Authentication Patterns: Own the SDK strategy for single-page applications and server-rendered web apps. Define how authentication state, client security models, and browser-based authentication work across modern web frameworks (React, Angular, Next.js, ASP.NET Core).
  • Unified Sign-In SDK for First-Party Apps: Own the SDK that enables Microsoft's internal app teams to adopt a consistent, unified sign-in experience across web, mobile, desktop, and browser. Provide integration guidance and adoption playbooks that unblock first-party adoption at scale.
  • Developer Onboarding & Golden Paths: Design the SDK-level onramp for customers adopting Entra External ID for the first time — whether starting greenfield or migrating from another provider. Create quickstarts and reference architectures that minimize time-to-first-sign-in.
  • Cross-Platform SDK Architecture & Tooling: Drive consistency across web, mobile, and server-side SDKs — shared error models, token lifecycle, telemetry, versioning, CLI tooling, IDE integration, and AI-assisted diagnostics. Ensure the SDK family feels like one product.
  • Workforce Identity SDK Innovation: Extend SDK thinking into enterprise scenarios — ISV multi-tenant integration, B2B collaboration patterns, Conditional Access-aware SDKs, and API protection patterns for Entra ID.
