Job Description:

Dealer-FX is looking for a Principal Product Designer to advance the technologies that enable automotive retailers to manage their service operations and provide their customers with a positive experience. You’ll partner with multiple stakeholders and teams across the company to deliver best-in-class solutions for desktop, tablet and mobile web-based applications to improve people’s lives. You’re a master tactician with a hyper-sensitive eye for detail. You have a balance of interaction design, visual design, and product thinking skills, and will lead the vision for a part of the Dealer-FX product defining, designing, researching, prototyping, and implementing new features as well as future iterations. You’ll lead the improvements and governance of our design system, as well as championing design, consistency, creativity, and technical innovation for our next-generation automotive productivity solution. You will lead the end-to-end design process from generative discovery and research through to iterative design solutions, leading other designers through the entire process from concept to completion.

Job Responsibility:

  • Improve the user experience. You’ll own projects from start to finish, while leading various UX initiatives including running design sprints to define and explore user problems, content mapping, sketching, wireframing, low and high fidelity prototyping, creating visual design concepts for brainstorming and approval in a timely manner and leading stakeholder reviews
  • Shape product direction and strategy through Design and human-centered thinking
  • Propose and constantly look out for new concepts and ideas
  • Advocate Design’s value within our team, and the broader creative community
  • Solve user problems while balancing all facets of a user's experience (strategy and research, information architecture, interaction design)
  • Challenge the status quo, and push for better both with the design team, and cross-functional partners
  • Stay current on emerging trends in online consumer behaviour, technologies and design
  • Design flows and experiences that simplify and distill down complex actions into usable interfaces
  • Ship valuable and high-quality work without sacrificing speed
  • Collaborate with multiple teams. Designing for cross-product, cross-platform foundational features, you will be leveraging and incorporating the domain expertise of teams focused on specific workflows

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
  • 9+ years of experience in product design or User Experience (UX)
  • Experience implementing visual design systems across platforms in an iterative software development environment
  • Portfolio highlighting multiple projects and your direct contributions
  • Technical mastery in design and prototyping tools (i.e. Figma)

Nice to have:

  • Strong storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex data and text into compelling insights
  • Strong visual design skills
  • Demonstrated sense of interaction design attuned to the fundamentals of user experience, including accessibility and inclusive design
  • Experience in storytelling through animation and video (e.g., After Effects, Principle, Premiere, etc.)
  • Experience in documenting solutions through personas, user journeys, storyboards, value propositions, and sketches
  • Experience in partnering with Design Research to amplify research and design impact
  • Experience in type design, and type animation
  • Ability to succeed in ambiguity and conceptualize new ideas
  • A foundational understanding of existing and emerging technologies to deliver for today while creating a vision of the future
  • Passion for design and a pulse on emerging trends, products, and technology
  • A track record in aligning and influencing cross-functional stakeholders, senior leaders, and peers towards business outcomes that reflect the needs of our customers
  • A history of delivering team-based design solutions within Agile SAAS or enterprise environments
  • The knack to ask “why?”– you’re naturally curious, and you believe in purpose-driven decisions that are strategically informed to drive meaningful solutions to user problems and opportunities
What we offer:
  • Vast opportunities for growth
  • Competitive compensation packages
  • A flexible work schedule for work-life balance
  • Comprehensive training and development support
  • Group health and dental benefits
