We’re looking for a Principal Product Designer to lead the design vision for next-generation Calendar + Copilot experiences. You’ll craft solutions that help users manage and automate key workflows that organize their time, schedule events, and collaborate with others into a seamless Calendar experience. Your work will span from refining today’s time management interfaces to imagining bold, AI-powered futures that make users more empowered and productive at work. You’ll design for scale and elegance: end-to-end workflows that feel intuitive, personalized, and connected across Microsoft 365. Think beyond screens: explore how AI agents, predicative workflows, and conversational interfaces can transform how people plan, prioritize, and collaborate daily. From enabling dynamic “next best actions” to creating experiences that feel like a personalized executive assistant, your designs will help bring delight to our customers, making technology feel like a thought partner, not a tool.
Job Responsibility:
Own and evolve the design vision for Microsoft Calendar Copilot experiences, with a focus on Conversational User Experiences and Autonomous Agents
Design endtoend workflows that make time management feel simple—across desktop, web, and mobile surfaces
Explore how Copilot, agents, prediction, and conversational UX can act as a thought partner for users to collaborate and work with
Lead ambiguous, highimpact problem spaces—balancing longterm vision with nearterm product delivery
Set a high bar for craft, quality, and usability, ensuring our products feels polished, coherent, and deeply thoughtful
Partner closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and data science to turn insights into shipped experiences
Use research and data to guide decisions, validate direction, and coursecorrect when needed—optimizing for longterm user value, not vanity metrics
Influence and mentor designers across X3, helping raise the quality and consistency of design work across the system
Requirements:
Master's Degree in Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design
OR Bachelor's Degree in Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design
OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems)
Nice to have:
2+ years of experience with vibe-coding or prototyping
A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design leadership—from vision and systems thinking through launch—showcasing polished execution and product impact
Proven experience setting and driving design direction for complex, high-scale products used daily by millions of people
Exceptional design craft, with strong attention to interaction details, motion, composition, and clarity across workflows
Comfort operating in ambiguity, breaking down large problem spaces, and shaping crisp, durable solutions
Experience partnering deeply with research, data, product, and engineering to inform direction, validate decisions, and measure outcomes
You’ve led or shaped agentic or AI-powered experiences that go beyond suggestions—defining how intelligent systems plan, decide, and act over time, while earning user trust through clarity, predictability, and control
