We’re looking for a Principal Product Design Architect to lead the design and development of high-performance compute and sensing hardware for next-generation robotic platforms. This role sits at the intersection of product design, compute architecture, sensing systems, and manufacturing, shaping how complex electromechanical systems are conceived, integrated, and brought to life at scale. You’ll define long-term hardware design strategies, lead technically complex programs, and work closely with cross-functional partners to deliver robust, scalable, and innovative robotic systems.
Job Responsibility:
Architect and lead the product design roadmap for compute- and sensing-heavy electromechanical systems
Drive system-level design decisions across compute architecture, sensors, mechanical packaging, thermal management, power delivery, and manufacturability
Evaluate and introduce new compute and sensing technologies to improve performance, efficiency, and scalability
Lead technical trade studies and guide key architectural decisions in collaboration with systems, software, controls, manufacturing, and sourcing teams
Own technical risk mitigation through design reviews, FMEAs, and validation planning
Serve as technical lead on complex design programs, partnering with product and engineering leadership to align execution with long-term strategy
Mentor and influence engineers through design reviews, standards development, and architectural best practices
Collaborate with external vendors and partners on compute and sensing technologies
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
10+ years of experience in electromechanical hardware product development, including meaningful ownership of complex product launches
Experience working with vendors and suppliers on compute components or sensing technologies
Deep experience architecting complex electromechanical products, with a strong emphasis on high-performance compute and sensing systems
Expert-level CAD proficiency (CATIA preferred or equivalent)
Strong understanding of compute-driven design challenges, including thermal management, power delivery, sensor integration, EMI/EMC, and system safety
Proven ability to lead architectural trade studies and balance innovation, cost, reliability, and manufacturability
Experience working across disciplines and influencing technical direction without direct authority
Comfort operating in ambiguous problem spaces and setting technical direction for others
