Rotorua Lakes Council is looking for an experienced and motivated planning professional to join our Spatial and Policy Planning team, helping shape the future of our district. In this role, you’ll play a key part in advancing Council priorities and meeting our statutory responsibilities under the Resource Management Act (RMA). You’ll contribute to sustainable growth and development across Rotorua, ensuring our planning frameworks support thriving communities now and for generations to come. Reporting to the Manager of Spatial and Policy Planning, you will lead and contribute to the development, implementation, and review of strategic planning initiatives, including the District Plan. You’ll provide expert advice on RMA and broader planning matters, supporting high-quality decision-making across Council. You’ll also be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team environment, where your expertise will help guide and mentor other planners, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and contribute to the development, implementation, and review of strategic planning initiatives, including the District Plan

Requirements:
Strong experience in RMA planning, policy development, and District Plan processes
Sound knowledge of planning legislation and best practice
Ability to provide clear, strategic advice to a range of stakeholders
