The Principal Policy and Programs Officer is responsible for providing authoritative policy advice on issues of interest to the Minister for Multicultural Affairs and the South Australian Multicultural Commission, and for leading the development of multicultural policy and program initiatives that promote cultural diversity in South Australia.
Job Responsibility:
Support and develop multicultural policy and program initiatives

Provide authoritative policy advice on issues of interest to the Minister for Multicultural Affairs and the South Australian Multicultural Commission
Lead the development of multicultural policy and program initiatives that promote cultural diversity in South Australia
Requirements:
Lead and coordinate the development of proposals on major, complex policy issues relating to multicultural affairs
Provide high quality advice to the Director, Multicultural Affairs and/or Manager, Policy and Community Relations, with recommendations for the Minister for Multicultural Affairs on specific policy and project proposals
Develop, implement and monitor projects by preparing project briefs
planning, researching information and developing project plans
monitoring
and evaluating and reporting on project outcomes
Prepare wellconsidered policy papers, submissions, briefs and notes on complex policy issues, including Cabinet Submissions, Estimates Briefings, Parliamentary Briefing Notes and other government documents
Assist the Manager, Policy and Community Relations in proactively identifying issues or opportunities for improved project and program delivery
Establish and develop effective collaborations and a network of strategic alliances with key stakeholders across government, nongovernment organisations, and multicultural communities
Represent the department on various state, Commonwealth and nongovernment committees, forums and working parties
Liaise and negotiate with other agency staff on a range of policy issues
Manage policy staff and/or multidisciplinary teams as required
Participate in the department's Performance Management Program
May be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent
Some work outside of normal hours will be required
This role requires a National Criminal History check
