Job Description

A leading fire engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Fire Engineer to join their growing technical team. This Principal Fire Engineer position offers the opportunity to deliver complex fire engineering projects while supporting the development of both clients and colleagues. The successful Principal Fire Engineer will play a key role in project delivery, technical leadership and mentoring activities across the business. This Principal Fire Engineer opportunity would suit an experienced consultant looking to take ownership of major projects and influence technical standards. Working closely with senior stakeholders, the Principal Fire Engineer will provide expert guidance on fire safety design and engineering solutions. Job Responsibility

  • Delivering fire engineering projects and fire safety strategies for UK-based developments
  • Leading technical reviews, quality assurance and peer review activities
  • Supporting senior leadership with team management and technical direction
  • Preparing fee proposals, tender submissions and project documentation
  • Presenting technical findings, reports and workshops to clients and stakeholders
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Mentoring and developing junior engineers within the team
  • Contributing to the ongoing growth and technical capability of the business

Requirements

  • Typically 5+ years’ experience within a fire engineering consultancy environment
  • Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, Approved Document B and relevant standards
  • Demonstrable experience delivering fire engineered solutions across a variety of sectors
  • Experience developing and implementing fire strategies
  • Excellent report writing, presentation and communication skills
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines effectively
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience supporting business development activities
  • A collaborative approach with a passion for mentoring and supporting colleagues
